Knowing a little bit about the method that Facebook uses to determine who shows up in your news feed can mean the difference between visibility and invisibility for your event or events business Facebook page.  While the system is somewhat mysterious, it isn’t  completely indecipherable.  And more and more bloggers are sharing tips on how marketers can use the Facebook system to their advantage.

One of the best posts I’ve read on this is Socialbrite’s 15 Ways to Enhance Your Facebook Influence. The article provides lots of great information on what will help and what will hurt you in getting your posts seen on Facebook. For instance, did you know that Facebook likes video a lot? The company believes that multimedia increases engagement and time spent on the site, so videos are much more likely to show up in the news feed. Also, you might already know that posting photos on Facebook gives you more news feed power  but did you know that checking in using Facebook Places does too? This post is chock-full of interesting and useful tid-bits like this.

You may also want to subscribe to the RSS feed for Socialbrite. It is an excellent blog that’s geared toward helping non-profit organizations make the best use of social media.  But I find that the content there is so good, that anyone interested in learning a lot about the best ways to make use of web 2.0 will benefit from frequent visits there.  Check it out!
